The French ski area of Megève is situated at 1,120 m above sea level in the Savoy Alps in the south of France. The 263 km of piste in the Megève ski area cover the Rochebrune/Côte 2000, Mont d’Arbois and Le Jaillet areas.
The Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area, at altitudes between 1,113 and 2,350 m, includes the ski areas of Combloux, La Giettaz, Saint Gervais, Megève and Les Contamines. Its 468 km of piste are accessible by 135 lifts, 14 cable cars, 78 ski lifts and 43 chairlifts. There are 166 km of easy-to-master green and blue pistes; 244 km of medium red; and 58 km of challenging black pistes. The diverse terrain and facilities mean that every skier and snowboarder can find their perfect piste.

Cross-country skiers can explore 45 km of perfectly groomed cross-country trails in the Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area, including a practice trail in the Megève ski area.
With the Mont Blanc Unlimited ski pass, holidaymakers weave and carve as they please down the 870 km of piste in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc ski region. At altitudes ranging from 1,030 to 3,842 m above sea level, the Aiguille du Midi is accessible via 55 cable cars, 124 ski lifts and 84 chair lifts. The 349 km of green and blue pistes, 340 km of red and 181 km of black pistes are joined by extensive areas of untouched deep snow for freeriders. The Chamonix-Mont-Blanc ski region includes the Évasion Mont-Blanc, Les Grands Montets, Balme Tour-Vallorcine, Les Houches Aiguille du Midi and Brévent-Flégère ski areas in France, Courmayeur in Italy and Verbier in Switzerland.
The best time for winter sports fans to visit Megève is over the winter holidays from December to April. During this time, there is an average 5 hours of sunshine per day. In the French Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area, winter sports fans can enjoy the 468 km of piste in the Megève, Combloux, Les Contamines and Saint Gervais areas.
Megève bears the “Familie Plus” accreditation thanks to its range of family-friendly facilities. Its wide, perfectly maintained runs for families and advanced skiers are mostly on sunny southern slopes. Ski kindergartens and schools, as well as a children’s park with a magic carpet and children’s lift, are just a few reasons why children and their parents love this ski area. Experts can try their hand at the steep World Cup downhill runs on the Rochebrune and Côte 2000. Snowboarders and freeriders can enjoy the challenging moguls below Mont Joly and explore the 120 m long halfpipe on the boardercross course between Mont Joux and Mont d’Arbois. Freestylers can let off steam on the perfectly designed jumps, corners, boxes, rails and wave rides in the “Waidzai Park” snow park. For cross-country skiers, Megève offers a well-prepared network of 18 easy, medium and demanding classic and skating trails at various altitudes.
Combloux is a “Family-Plus Ski Area” situated around the village of the same name at the gates of the Mont Blanc Group. The family-friendly ski area has something to offer for all levels of ability. Once a week, the illuminated “Les Garettes” piste has night skiing on offer. In Combloux and La Giattaz, two snow parks and one boardercross line make the hearts of freestylers and snowboarders beat faster. Cross-country skiers glide over 5.5 km of cross-country trails through breathtaking mountain landscapes. A particular highlight is a guided glacier tour into the Vallée Blanche – with trained guides, 2,800 m peaks and a trail stretching over 20 km, it’s a must do.
For freestylers, there are several obstacles available in the Évasion Mont-Blanc ski area.
The different pistes of Les Contamines offer guaranteed snow and breathtaking panoramic views of the hillsides of Mont Blanc above the coniferous forests. In the lower part, they lead to the charming Montjoi Valley with plenty of chalets. The ski area around Les Contamines has two practice slopes, one ski kindergarten and two fun parks. Nordic skiing fans will discover five classic and five skating trails, too.
Saint Gervais is a family-friendly ski area and was awarded the “Les P’tits Montagnards” accreditation, due to the children’s park that offers small skiers their own pistes and lifts. A 120 m long halfpipe and the fun park at Mont Joux with jumps, wave rides, boxes and corners offer snowboarders and freestylers the perfect set-up to let off steam. In addition to perfectly maintained runs for all levels of ability, winter sports fans will find 23 km of touring pistes in Saint Gervais that lead to magnificent deep-snow slopes. Cross-country skiers glide along 30 km of cross-country trails through the mountain landscapes of Mont Blanc.
Most of the individual ski areas in the Évasion Mont-Blanc area can be reached by ski bus. Within this area, there are loads of ski schools that teach adults and children how to ski, snowboard, cross-country and freeride. Winter sports fans can rent modern equipment at one of the numerous rental stations. Mountain schools offer guided ski tours into the untouched mountain regions of Mont Blanc.
